ORIJEN CAT & KITTEN is formulated with a Biologically Appropriate ingredient ratio (75/30/0) of 75% meat, 25% fruit and vegetables (and 0% grain)-all slow-cooked at low temperatures (90c/195F) to retain their natural goodness.

There are 3 sources of calories (energy) in all dog foods - protein, fat & carbohydrates.

Protein and fat are essential, while carbohydrates are not. In other words, while your dog thrives on proteins and fats from meat, he requires absolutely no carbohydrates in his diet.

As carbohydrates provide no nutritional value they are considered 'empty calories' for dogs and cats.

Carbohydrates convert quickly to blood sugar and cause quick bursts of energy and fluctuating blood sugar levels.

When not used for energy, carbohydrates are stored in the body as fat.

Carbohydrates are a leading dietary cause of obesity and diabetes in today's companion dogs & cats.

ORIJEN provides more calories from protein and fewer calories from carbohydrate, which naturally controls body weight, reducing the risk of obesity, insulin resistance and diabetes.

CALORIE CONTENT & DISTRIBUTION
ORIJEN CAT & KITTEN has a Metabolizable Energy (ME) of 4350 kcal/kg (440 kcal per 250ml cup). Calories are distributed to promote peak physical conditioning with 40% of energy derived from protein, 15% from fruit & vegetables and 45% from fat.

Feeding

PREGNANCY:
Increase food by 10% in week 7, and 20% during weeks 8 and 9.

LACTATION:
Increase food by 50% and feed 3 or 4 times daily
